Columbia City Cuts Logo
I just did a simple clean logo for Columbia City Cuts. The owner, Dina, was great to work with and can make even the shaggiest of hair look good (mine)!

My friend Erica over at Steel Toe Studios asked me to do the logo for Foundry Wear, her new collection of high quality cast pewter belt buckles. She also teamed up with Alchemy Goods to create recycled bike tube belts for the buckles. I created an original typeface for the project. You can see the new logo and all of Erica’s creation at her Etsy store.

Joanna decided to brighten our street corner with a drawing she did on brown paper. Within minutes all the neighbor kids were checking it out. Then an interesting thing happened. They all ran home, did drawings and stapled them up to the telephone poles near their house. I love seeing kids get inspired to do art!

I just entered the “Threadless Loves Discogs” competition at Threadless.com. The theme was “Music: Past, Present and Future”. My idea was that in the future, robots will be the collectors of music in all formats. Please vote for my design before Jan 20th. Thanks!

I currently am showing my work at the Seattle Drumschool Georgetown. The 6 records and 8 8-tracks collaged pieces will be up there through January 4th, 2008. They are an extension of the “Keep Fit, Be Happy” show I had in September.
If you’re in Georgtown, go say hi to Marc and check out the new pieces. The Drumschool is located at 1010 S. Bailey.

The December issue of Bicycling magazine features the 9 best bike catalogs of 2007. The Pryme catalog I designed was featured along with brands like Scott, Colnago, Rivendale, Kona and Rapha. It’s great to have been selected in this article along with these other great print pieces. I like that they actually folded together the Pryme Monster and used it in the article. Here’s what they said:
“PRYME. We can think of many reasons Pryme’s 2007 catalog, “Life Is Sketchy”, was selected as a winner in PRINT magazine’s Regional Design Annual competition. The product photos are big and beautiful, and rather than cram dozens of items on a page, art director Evan Moss gives each piece some breathing room, then complements it with his own illustrations, for a sort of “I-got-caught-doodling-in-my-history-textbook-again” vibe. While octopi and an Abominable Snowman-like creature serve as models, and helmets appear as everything from a bunch of balloons to scoops of ice cream - other illustrations, such as the darts, nails and icicles that protrude from gloves, make the case that Pryme’s gear is as much about function as it is fashion. That said, we’d like to think that the thing that really impressed the PRINT judges was the make-your-own monster doll that you can cut out of the back inside cover. Prymegear.com”

One of my pieces I did as Creative Director at SBS made it into this year’s Print Regional Design Annual. This is the first time I’ve been selected to be in that issue. Whoohoo!!!
The piece that was chosen was the 2007 Pryme Protective Gear catalog, an action sport helmet manufacturer. The theme I came up for it was “Life Is Sketchy”, which fit with the nature of action sports. You never know when you’re going to fall. I did the illustrations and design of the catalog. Below is a few photos of the spreads. You can download a PDF of the whole catalog here.

I will have a whole new collection of artwork opening on Sept 7th at Retroactive kids in Columbia City (Beatwalk night). The theme of the show is KEEP FIT, BE HAPPY which I appropriated off of a 60’s era aerobics album cover. My artwork combines my characters in fitness style poses intertwined with the 8-Tracks and albums they are collaged onto. I’m real happy with the results! Here’s the info on the show:
